Technology to the rescue! MSW candidates at Central Connecticut University invited Zuzubean Press’s Founding Authors into their class for a 2 hour seminar on transgender marriage and acceptance, via skype. This engaging and inspiring conversation dug deep into students’s most pertinent questions regarding Marcy & Scottie’s transition. “By sharing our own personal journey in a no-holds-barred frank discussion, we hope to hep the professional therapeutic community – this next generation of Therapists and councilors – to better serve our community, said Marcy. “The current guidelines for the MSW degrees require on average 5 hours of study with LGBTQ community. That’s an hour per community, for those of you doing the math. Any opportunity we can get to help these amazing angels get a better insight to the care and feeding of unicorns, Zuzubean will rush in,” said the more prone to hyperbole Scottie. Associate Professor, Joanna Curry-Sartoi has been a huge supporter and fan of our for years, and we love rolling up our sleeves to help her help her students. One student wrote of the experience, “seeing you both discuss the personal struggles and achievements regarding coming out/accomodating transgender identification helped me see my futiure cliemts as living preathing human being that seeks not just professional help but human compassion. Genuine human beings rater than case studies.”
Gosh. Nuff said.
